Talk:Definition 1 (D1) - new
From NACEP Wiki
NACEP's definition of "concurrent enrollment" is problematic for UNCG iSchool. Insisting that a program is CE only'Bold text' is the teacher is a high school teacher automatically excludes high quality programs that otherwise meet standards but use actual university or college faculty. This exclusion applies to some face-to-face programs and many online programs.
UNCG iSchool was designed originally on the Syracuse model. However, with our pool of qualified high school teachers rapidly evaporating, we launched our first online program in 1999. This program has grown steadily and now receives full funding from the state of North Carolina. Our original face-to-face program will probably disappear in the coming academic year.
I would like the NACEP membership to consider a revised definition of "concurrent enrollment." We should recognize the validity, quality, and rigor of programs whose teachers are college/university faculty as well as programs taught by high school teachers.
