The conference provides a unique opportunity for participants to learn from each other, celebrate one another, and grow as educators. Sessions are designed and presented by SU and high school faculty, along with faculty from other universities, authors, and academic leaders from across the country.
The conference held in October of 2004, explored "Inquiry and Action: Creating New Pathways in a Time of Standards and Change." Highlights included a keynote address on "Reading, Writing, and Poetry" by Robert Scholes, professor emeritus at Brown University, and a talk on "'Old School' at the Old School" by author and former SU professor Tobias Wolff, now in residence at Stanford.
In 2001, participants studied "Teaching and Learning for Critical Citizenship." Topics covered a range of interests from literary and film criticism to sessions on the use of technology and classroom diversity.
