Elementary Probability & Statistics II

“Data is a precious thing and will last longer than the systems themselves,” writes Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web.

Exploring more deeply the fascinating world of statistical analysis, and building on the skills and knowledge learned in MAT 221, students of MAT 222 will develop a working understanding of a variety of inferential techniques.

You’ll use statistical software to go beyond basic statistical analysis to create reasoning and data analysis. Then you’ll put what you’ve learned to work in a group project that will require your team to analyze and solve a challenging statistical problem.

MAT 222 builds on the fundamental concepts learned in MAT 221 to develop a working understanding of the use of a variety of inferential techniques. An important component of this course is the data analysis project: students, typically in teams of two to four, develop and solve a statistical problem using the methods learned in the course.
