The cost per credit hour for the 2008-2009 year is $110.
Project Advance is a nonprofit program, and the cost to students (tuition) is greatly reduced from the tuition for taking the same course on campus. Income generated by tuition covers the Project’s operating costs, including services of the Project Advance staff and the faculty who work with the high school instructors on the courses. Tuition also covers the cost of faculty travel to high schools, printing of materials, test scoring and evaluation, professional development seminars for instructors teaching SU courses in the high schools, and numerous other expenses required for the maintenance of a strong partnership program. Income in excess of those costs provides for such benefits as emergency tuition assistance to qualified students and scholarship assistance for graduate study by instructors active in our partnership program.
Tuition is based on the number of credits each student registers to take in a given academic year or semester. Syracuse University courses in Accounting (4 credits), biology (8 credits), calculus (4 credits), chemistry (8 credits), cybersecurity (4 credits), forensic science (4 credits), French (4 credits), German (4 credits), history (6 credits), Italian (4 credits), Spanish (4 credits), statistics (6 credits), and writing/English (6 credits) are either year long or two-semester sequences. Students register and pay tuition for both semesters in the fall. All other classes including college learning strategies, computer engineering, economics, information technology, presentational speaking, psychology, public affairs and sociology are (3 credits) and are taught in either the fall or spring semester depending the instructor’s schedule. Tuition must be paid in full by the fall semester payment due date unless the installment payment option is chosen.
