William R. Newell

Mr. Newell joined Project Advance in 1994 as part of the evaluation team. He administers the foreign language (French, German, Italian, Spanish), calculus, and statistics courses, and oversees Project Advance's research and evaluation, as well as the National Database of School-College Partnerships, which Project Advance houses. In addition, Newell serves as treasurer on the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) Board of Directors. Newell is completing his Ph.D. in the Higher Education Program at SU. Before joining Project Advance, Newell worked as an exploration geologist for Amoco Production Company in New Orleans and Denver, and as a sales associate with Sargent Welch Scientific with responsibility for secondary schools in Upstate New York and Pennsylvania. His research interests lie in improving the understanding of school-college partnership structure and function, and how college courses taken during high school are integrated into the undergraduate curriculum. He has presented papers at regional meetings of the Geological Society of America and national conferences of the Association for Study of Higher Education, the American Association for Higher Education, and NACEP.
